Check my match

Check your personal loan match

Short answer

This three-minute form checks whether your loan amount, credit range, income and monthly payments fit the guidelines of the lending partners we plan to work with. It asks for no Social Security number and charges nothing. If you fit, your request is saved so we can match you when a partner is available in your state.

Start here

Takes about 3 minutes. No Social Security number. No fee. Checking does not affect your credit score.

Partner availability varies by state. We are finishing partner agreements. Requests are saved now and matched when we open; we may contact you later.

What partners generally look for
  • Loan amount $2,000 to $75,000
  • Credit score about 620 or higher
  • Yearly income of $30,000 or more, from any regular source
  • No bankruptcy in the last 2 years and nothing 60+ days past due
  • Monthly debt and housing payments under 60% of gross monthly income
  • 18 or older
What do you need the loan for?

Choose $2,000 to $75,000, the range our lending partners offer.

Where do you live?

Partner availability varies by state. If we cannot match in your state yet, we will offer an email list instead of a match.

About your credit

An estimate is fine. We never pull your credit here.

Lending partners generally need a score of about 620 or higher, no bankruptcy in the last 2 years and no account 60 or more days past due.

Your income

Partners generally need at least $30,000 a year before taxes, from work, self-employment, retirement, a pension or benefits.

Monthly payments

Monthly payments only, not balances. Used only to estimate whether a new payment fits your budget.

Partners generally need these payments to stay under 60% of your gross monthly income.

Where should we send your results?

We never ask for your Social Security number or any payment. Anyone who asks you for money before a loan is a scam, not us. Your answers are sent over an encrypted connection.

You are on the list.

Thank you. We saved your request. We are still finishing lending partner agreements for your state. We will email you when we start matching, and we will not share your request before then. Nothing here is a loan offer or an approval.

While you wait, our offer checklist shows how to compare any quote you receive.

We cannot match you right now.

Thank you for your time. Based on what you shared, your answers fall outside what our lending partners accept today. That is not a judgment about you, and it does not touch your credit. Free options that often help are on our other options page, including nonprofit credit counseling and credit union programs.

Not matching in your state yet.

We may not have a lending partner in your state yet. Leave your email and we will tell you if that changes. No calls, no texts.

What happens after you submit

  1. We check fit, not credit. Your answers are compared with plain criteria: credit self-rating, income, monthly debts and the amount you want.
  2. If you fit, your request is saved and, once our lending partner agreements are complete, matched with the partner whose guidelines fit best.
  3. If you do not fit, you see why in general terms and a list of free options. We do not store your name, email or phone number for requests that do not fit.
  4. You decide. A lender sets the APR, fees and terms and must disclose them before you commit. You can say no at any step.
We never ask for a Social Security number, a bank login or a payment. Anyone who asks you to pay before you receive a loan is running a scam. See our guide to loan scams.

Why the form asks what it asks

Lenders decline applications they could have predicted would not fit. Asking the same screening questions lenders use saves you a pointless credit inquiry and saves partners from reviewing requests that cannot be approved. The questions use objective facts you give us: loan amount, credit range, total income from any source, and monthly payments. We do not ask about, or use, race, color, religion, national origin, sex, marital status, age, or whether your income comes from public assistance.

Before you start

Have these ready so the check takes about three minutes: the amount you want, your best estimate of your credit range, your monthly income from all sources before taxes, your monthly rent or mortgage payment and the total of your other monthly debt payments. You do not need to look up a score; pick the range that fits what you last saw from your bank or a free credit tool. If you are unsure, pick the lower range.

What you will see afterwards

You will get one of three results. A fit: your request is saved and we explain what happens next. Not yet: we tell you which answer is the issue, such as monthly debt compared with income, and what to change. An amount mismatch: we tell you the range that is typical for the guidelines we use. In all cases you will see links to free help.

Frequently asked questions

Does checking my match hurt my credit score?

No. We never pull your credit report on this form. A lender may run a credit check later if you choose to continue with an offer, and they must tell you before they do.

Is this an application for a loan?

No. It is a request to be matched with lenders. Only a lender can approve a loan, and only after its own application.

Why do you ask about bankruptcy and past-due accounts?

Most lenders screen for them, so the answers help us avoid matching you with a lender that would decline you. A recent bankruptcy or an account 60 or more days past due does not make you a bad borrower; it only affects which lenders can say yes right now.
